If Jedi: Survivor is your first foray with Cal Cestus in the Star Wars galaxy, you’ll want to know what the differences are between difficulty settings.

Enemies are not pushovers in this franchise, and you’ll find yourself one with the Force many times over at higher difficulties. This is why you probably don’t want to be overly ambitious with the difficulty level you take on in your first playthrough. This franchise is likened to Dark Souls, after all.

All of the difficulty setting differences in Jedi Survivor

There are five difficulty settings to choose from in Jedi: Survivor. Your options are Story, Jedi Padawan, Jedi Knight, Jedi Master, and Jedi Grand Master, which are listed from least to greatest difficulty. Developer Respawn Entertainment added the Jedi Padawan option in this game, which felt a bit lacking from Jedi: Fallen Order.

The main differences between difficulties apply to how aggressive enemies are, how much damage they deal, and how much time you’ll get to counter special attacks.

If you’re solely interested in the story and don’t like Souls games, the Story mode is the obvious choice. Most players will likely stick with Jedi Padawan and Jedi Knight difficulties. These are very doable even for casual players and introduce just enough challenge to bring out the combat intricacies that make the gameplay interesting.

There’s a notable jump at Jedi Master difficulty. Even single enemies or groups of Stormtroopers will put up a challenge, potentially killing you or oftentimes dealing some serious damage if you’re not on top of your game. You’ll have to pay careful attention to each encounter to consistently make it through checkpoints at Jedi Master. Even then, you’ll still find certain bosses very difficult to defeat.

As for Jedi Grand Master, think of that scene from Revenge of the Sith where Darth Sidious effortlessly kills several Jedi Masters. You’re going to feel like one of those Jedi Masters. It’s only recommended that you try Jedi Grand Master difficulty once you master the mechanics of the game and want a serious challenge.

Now you know what all of the differences are between difficulty settings in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. You might want to stick with some easier difficulty settings until the developers release enough patches to improve the performance on PC. The last thing anyone wants to die from is a framerate drop or stutter at a critical moment.

Once you do get going in Jedi: Survivor, you’ll likely want to know a few more things like how to get different lightsaber colors and all the mounts that are available. Check out these handy guides to get Cal customized the way you like.
