The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story is an action RPG where you play as Sylas, a rebel mage leading a rebellion against Demacia. Sylas has access to a varied moveset consisting of melee attacks, spells, and an ultimate. Here are my picks for the best spells in The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story.
How to unlock Spells in The Mageseeker
At the beginning of the game, you will only have access to your melee attacks and be able to steal spells from enemies. Once you progress the main mission far enough, you will unlock spells as part of the story progression.
Early on in the game, you will fight a mini-boss called the Polar Lizard. During this mission, an NPC called Leilani will give you a fire spell as your first spell to help you defeat this enemy. These spells are castable without stealing them from enemies using your mana.
After completing this mission, you will return to your rebel hideout. Here, you can talk to Leilani near your cave to unlock different types of spells like the one you received in the prior mission. Gaining access to these spells requires stealing them from enemies first. Make sure you try to steal spells from every enemy you see.
Having access to a variety of spells makes combat more interesting. Also, it provides more variety in combat and lets you experiment with which spells you like best.
The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story: Best Spells
Occult Shield
The Occult Shield is easily the best defensive spell in The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story. It provides you with bonus health that exceeds your current health total making it great in a pinch. You can also cast it before a boss to give you some extra survivability. Due to the limited amount of healing in The Mageseeker, any health-boosting effect is amazing. As an added bonus, this spell also adds extra damage to your melee attacks.
This spell can be unlocked by stealing it from Jellbugs, a small purple creature that can be found in the second half of the game.
Heal
Another survivability spell that helps you stay alive longer during more intense battles. Although this spell costs three mana bars compared to a measly one for the Occult Shield, it is still a great spell to have due to the large amount of health gain. Being able to heal on the move lets you continue your offense while you rapidly gain health.
This spell can be unlocked by stealing it from the arch-nature mages in the last portion of the campaign.
Static Shock
Static Shock is a great AoE spell. It costs two mana bars and creates a field of electricity that lasts for a short period of time. Being able to control an area of the battlefield makes it easier to position yourself, and deal extra damage to enemies who enter Static Shock’s radius.
Being able to hit multiple enemies at once makes it a great offensive tool for clearing crowds and weakening crowds so you can finish them off with your chains.
This spell can be stolen from the electric-bird creatures in the various mage laboratories in the game.
Mystic Pound
Mystic Pound is very similar to Static Shock. It has a large AoE, costs two mana bads, and is amazing for controlling crowds. However, Mystic Pound deals all its damage up front. As such, it is great for dealing burst damage and if you desperately want to kill a group of foes, while Static Shock is better in long-drawn-out battles.
This spell can be unlocked from the mage laboratories as well.
Sap Beam
Sap beam is one of the best cheap spells in The Mageseeker:A League of Legends Story. It only costs a single mana bar, and does a decent amount of damage. The best part is its homing ability, letting you fire off Sap Beams while chaining your own combos.
Being able to deal damage from afar without much effort makes it great for weakening crowds, or for chipping away at boss health while dodging.
This spell can be unlocked early in the game in the forest area.
