Diablo 4 is already quite hard, even on the easiest World Tier 1 difficulty. But, just like any other Diablo game, it’s the bosses that add to the challenge. Some are fun and others can be downright annoying to beat. Elias, who is one of the main antagonists in Diablo 4 has been in thorne in the player’s side. His boss fight is made up of a couple of different parts, and all require their own strategy. If you want to know how to beat Elias in Diablo 4, this guide will break down the boss fight for you.
Diablo 4: How to beat Elias
Elias in Diablo 4 is crucial to the story and important to Lilith. He’s responsible for bringing her back to life, and to lead the effort of helping her become a Prime — the ultimate evil. Taking him on is different based on who you play as, and what build you’re creating. When I faced him, I was the Necromancer class, which made going up against Elias rather simple. For the other classes, things may not be the same.
First Encounter
As mentioned, Elias’s boss battle is in sections, with the first part being more straightforward. The first encounter you face him, you’ll be fighting him around four times. That may seem like a lot, but don’t worry, as long as you attack consistently, and don’t give him breathing room, he’ll go down easily.
For each fight, make sure you’re dodging his AoE attacks which could slow you down. If you’re playing with a class and a build that has NPCs, things do get easier. For example, while I was facing him with the Summoner Build of the Necromancer, my skeletons would be attacking while I dodge his attacks.
If you’re not using a class that has these abilities, balance out your attacks from range and up close. There will be short moments of peace in between his attacks, go in close, put in the attacks, then dodge out of the way.
Second Encounter
For the second and final stage of his boss fight, things do get much harder. Before going into the second part, we recommend having the Protecting Aspect. It creates a large bubble around you that lasts between 3 and 5 seconds. This will help because it can negate most of Elias’s attacks at a time.
Read our guide on applying Aspects if you need help with this.
For this stage, Elias will summon large Opperssors much like he did in the first, however, expect more to be summoned at once. Things may be tough when they’re on the field, so attack from a distance, and dodge his large AoE attacks at the same time. Whenever an NPC is summoned, switch targets to attack them. They will make this harder if you don’t. Additionally, there will be NPCS healing him. As soon as you see them, take care of them quickly. He will have a large attack that has a radial shape on the ground, quickly get out of the way and use your ranged attacks until he’s done his offensive move.
Players have reported for Sorcerers have a somewhat easier time dealing with him. If you use blizzard and Hydra skills, you can stop him from outright attacking at times. This is done by freezing him from the blizzard, and letting the Hydra’s put in supplemental damage.
If you’re using the Necromancer like I was, again, use your skeleton army to focus on him. But you should be prioritizing everything else, meaning going after his summons and other NPCS.
As long as you’re going back and forth between close quarters and attacking from a distance, you should be able to beat him easier.
Another important item to take with you into battle is the potions. Make sure you have a good amount, and that they can bring back a heavy amount of health.
