The keynote at Las Vegas Fanfest announced Dawntrail as the next expansion for FFXIV, and with the presentation came the revelation of what’s to come in 7.0. Here’s all changes coming in FFXIV 7.0 Dawntrail.
Dawntrail and 7.0: What to expect from the fifth expansion
Story-wise, now that we’ve restored hope to the world, we’re going to the New World, now revealed to be called Tural. This South American inspired continent promises a diverse group of inhabitants. Like Thavnair and the Arkasodara, Mamool Ja live amongst the human races of Eorzea, but there is even more to see. The keynote described this expansion as a perfect vacation, taking it easy after saving the world from the apocalypse. Erenville seems to be coming with us as well. Yet it seems the Warrior of Light is being sought out by Tural to help someone participate in a rite of succession for its ruler. We’re also going to see the Scions divided into two teams, and a fabled city of gold. Something tells me a vacation expansion is not all there is to it.
The next hub city will be Tuliyollal, ruled by a two-headed Mamool Ja named Gulool Ja Ja.
We also saw a preview of a mountain valley area called Urqopacha and Yak T’el, a rainforest area of Tural.
More to come with FFXIV Dawntrail
- A glimpse at one of the Allied Tribes, the Pelupelu, described as a diminutive people inhabiting Urqopacha who are good at trade and seldom seen without their distinctive masks. It’s not clear if they’re a variant of Hyur or another race of Spoken.
- The long-awaited graphics update. FFXIV will be upping its shadows and lighting engine and the resolution of the game. Characters will be higher resolution, plant and foliage will improve a lot, and areas will have more lighting and shine.
- The new jobs this expansion will be Magical Ranged DPS and Melee DPS. We have no information, but Naoki Yoshida’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle tee at the keynote is likely a hint to one of these.
- A new raid series and Alliance raid series will come, and a new Ultimate. More Variant Dungeons. There’s also talks of a Deep Dungeon.
- The level cap is finally at 100! We saw previews of some of the Disciples of War and Hand/Land artifact gear sets.
- A preview of what looks to be a trial boss, a Queztlcoatl inspired boss named Valigarmanda.
- Duty support will be updating accordingly for the new dungeons.
- They teased ‘expansive new lifestyle content’ similar to Island Sanctuary.
- PVP will have some updates to Crystalline Conflict, Rival Wings, and Frontlines. There will be new maps.
- The Gold Saucer and Blue Mage will be updated.
- We will be getting Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures.
- Gear will be dyeable with two sets and furnishing item limits increase. They’re adding eyeglasses as a new wearable piece of gear. You can finally wear helmets with glasses. They won’t take up inventory space.
- A feature called the Strategy Board, which seems to be a way to coordinate doing content.
Further information on all changes coming in FFXIV 7.0 Dawntrail will have to wait for the London Fanfest. Perhaps then we’ll get to learn what at least one of the jobs will be.
