The decision to side with the Emissary or the Hunter in Starfield happens at the end of the Unearthed quest when you leave the NASA Launch Tower and head outside. At this point, you’ll meet with both of them, and they make their cases on why you should choose with them. However, picking one over the other will impact how your game ends and what legendary weapon you get after the final battle, so it is a significant decision. Here’s information you can use when deciding if you should side with the Emissary or the Hunter in Starfield and what happens with each choice.
Should you pick the Emissary or the Hunter in Starfield?
This is actually a trick question because you shouldn’t side with the Emissary or the Hunter in Starfield. After all, the lack of a decision is still a decision. You can achieve this by picking the “You’re both wrong. It’s time someone other than a Starborn made a decision” dialogue option. Doing so will cause them both to team up against you during the final mission, but you can get the Unmitigated Violence and Eternity’s Gate legendary weapons instead of just one of them. However, knowing what happens when you side with the Emissary or the Hunter in Starfield is essential, so the other two choices have been detailed in greater detail below.

If you want to see all endings based on who you are siding with a specific person before choosing neither, you must save before interacting with them. This will allow you to reload this save to the point where you must decide whether to side with the Emissary, the Hunter, or neither to see how that influences Starfield’s ending.
