This isn’t necessarily surprising, as the creators of the Fallout series, Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky, were the game’s directors. The Outer Worlds 2 was announced a few years back, leaving us to wonder when it will launch.
As a result, the first in Obsidian’s space adventure series was an enjoyable RPG game, perhaps hampered by the studio’s upcoming Microsoft acquisition. Sadly, though we know The Outer Worlds 2 is in active development, there’s very little else to go on right now. So let’s get into the details about speculating what The Outer Worlds 2 release date could be, as well as any further information or trailers about the upcoming space game sequel.
The Outer Worlds 2 release date speculation
We expect The Outer Worlds 2 release date to land sometime in 2025 for PC and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Obsidian Entertainment is also working on Avowed, a first-person fantasy RPG similar to The Elder Scrolls series, so we’ll unlikely see both games in 2024. There has been no officially confirmed date.
The Outer Worlds 2 was first announced in 2021 during the Xbox Showcase presentation, and all we know about the game is what the tagline says: “New solar system, new crew, same Outer Worlds.” It’s highly likely that it’ll keep the same irreverent sense of humor in its marketing as the first game had.
We’d estimate that the sequel entered development in 2019, following the success of The Outer Worlds original game. With three years in development, it could be reasonably far along the process, btu with Obsidian Entertainment also having found success with the likes of Grounded, its other titles could be taking up its time right now.
The Outer Worlds 2 trailers
The Outer Worlds 2 has, so far, only been shown in one trailer. In it, we see several unique-looking planets, monsters, and humans that are likely not to appear in the final version of the game. The narrator of the trailers explains that, at the time, “the developers haven’t finished the design, or finished the story, or finished any gameplay that’s actually ready to show.”
So far, unfortunately, the above The Outer Worlds 2 release date speculation and the teaser trailer announcing the game are all we have to go on.
