Lords of the Fallen will require you to harvest an ungodly amount of Vigor for the sake of power. Upgrading your character, upgrading your gear, and buying items all require it, so you’ll need to know how to get it as efficiently as possible. There are a couple ways to do this, and you’ll need to know so you won’t spend too long hunting for the stuff.

An Umbral Excursion in Lords of the Fallen

Out of the following two farming methods that I personally use, this is the easiest, and is generally more recommended. This farming method revolves around entering Umbral and farming until you’ve maxed out the Dread meter. Find an open space that next to a point of rest, clear any Axiom enemies, and rift into Umbral.

From here, you will be fighting the Umbral creatures as they materialise, and you have until the red wraith Umbral enemy spawns to get as much Vigor as you can. This method is preferable as when you’re in Umbral, your multiplier will slowly increase. When your Dread is maxed out, you will have a x3 multiplier on your Vigor gain.

As long as you are skilled, you can easily take out the Umbral enemies as they spawn and evade the wraith that will soon be haunting your every step. Keep farming until failure, and then you can collect your souls and try again.

This method is more effective early game, especially when preparing for the Pieta boss fight. This is also typically safer and comes with a time limit, allowing for a natural time to take a break for your own sanity. If you are underleveled for your area, farming in this way could net you more than one level per farming session.

The Axiom and Umbral Double Feature in Lords of the Fallen

However, if the enemies near one of your seedlings or Vestiges provide a favorable amount of Vigor, then for maximum gain, you may want to consider the Axiom and Umbral double feature. This is a great way to maximise your gains, but comes with some hefty risk, especially as this method relies on your fighting many more enemies. At the very least, this method should also enhance your fighting skills.

Upon resting at your chosen Vestige, rift into Umbral. It won’t take too long to clear your chosen sector of enemies, and so I would wait until the multiplier increases before starting the killing. With the increase in Vigor gain, and access to Axiom and Umbral enemies, the Vigor you gain from doing the rounds and slaughtering are off the charts.

Again, this is risky, so if you feel overwhelmed, either make sure to get killed by an Umbral creature or dash back to your resting place. But if you’re capable, then you’ll be fine.

The later you wait, the more Vigor you’ll gain. However, the bigger the multiplier, the closer you are to feeling the wrath of the wraith. So if you think you can clear all the enemies for a juicy x2 multiplier before the wraith comes, then be my guest. Although you may be able to make the rounds two or three times before the time it takes waiting for the multiplier to hit that level. It’s all about time efficiency, after all.

Some early game location examples

To set an example to help you visualise the best spots to perform either of these methods, allow me to list some early locations in Lords of the Fallen.

Outside of the Pieta boss fight is a great location for an Umbral Excursion. Just allow the other enemies to kill each other off then do careful battle with the final combatant before rifting. Don’t heal before you rift, as your health will return to full, even if half is withered.

In Pilgrim’s Perch Descent, outside the Sanctuary Vestige, is a great location for both of the above methods. You can either carefully clear out all enemies and rift for the excursion, or you can brave the beasts of both worlds for much higher gains.

In the Forsaken Fen, there is a great opportunity for an Axiom and Umbral Double Feature. From the first Vestige, there is a door to its left that can be unlocked from the otherside. Through there is a litany of easy enemies that grant good Vigor. Just gather them and lure them away, or take them out one by one alongside any Umbral creature you find.

I hope this has helped you understand the best two ways to farm for Vigor in Lords of the Fallen. For more aid, warp over to PC Invasion.
