LEGO Fortnite allows you a great deal of creative freedom. And where there are wheels, there are people who will try to make cars.
I’ve found the best method in making cars in LEGO Fortnite, so read on, then go forth and create your own masterpiece!
Making a car in LEGO Fortnite
If you want to make a car in LEGO Fortnite, then you’ll need a number of things to hand. You’ll need the Dynamic Platform, Wheels, and if you want a crazy time, you’ll also need Thrusters and an Activation Switch.
These items can be unlocked through the acquisition of Blast Powder and Flexwood, so it won’t take you long to unlock all the recipes.
The tricky thing when building these sorts of contraptions in LEGO Fortnite is that normal items, once placed, aren’t affected by thrusters, wheels, or balloons. You’ll need to build the car on a Dynamic Platform, so you can destroy the platform and the car will be dropped, now fully able to be influenced by your toys.
Before building, place or move your platform to a flat piece of land, otherwise your car will roll off without you.
All you need for a car are wheels and something to be the body. Literally anything can be your car. For the sake of balance, however, making “axles” by using foundations like above is useful to make sure that the wheels are even and aligned. You can use foundation blocks to then build the body of your car over and around the axles.
You can add Thrusters and a Switch if you really want to go fast, just be careful and don’t go overboard, else you’ll be making a rocket, not a car.
When you’re done with your design – break the Dynamic Platforms and your car will be ready to ride! You may need to push it into position before you can ride it.

Limitations of the car in LEGO Fortnite
When deciding to build a car, be mindful of the following:
- Cars cannot turn, unless you break and build Wheels on the go which is not advised.
- Cars are influenced by gravity, so you cannot travel uphill. Thrusters will be needed in these situations.
- Wheels will not turn by themselves and aren’t influenced by switches. You’ll have to use Thrusters to make the car go.
- Cars generally suck in LEGO Fortnite unless you intend to make a one-way travel system.
There you have it, everything you need to learn about cars in LEGO Fortnite! So go forth and build.
