I never expected a sword to be this important. Here is how to complete the Steeled Resolve, Blazing Forge quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and where to find Sara while we are at it.

So, where did Sara go with the Regalia Sword?

Right after we completed the Dulled Steel, Cold Forge quest in Dragon’s Dogma, we were left with a misplaced dulled Regalia Sword and Sara – Bakbatthal Blacksmith’s apprentice – nowhere to be found. Well, as we said before, she didn’t just take the Regalia Sword to pawn it at the local shop, change her name, and live happily ever after with a ton of money in the bank.

If you remember, her efforts to restore the Regalia Sword were unsuccessful due to the amount of heat required for the job. Well, she left in the search for heat, and she found it in a place called Volcanic Island, and you guessed it, she will try to gather the power of lava to do this job. That’s what I call determination.

The way to Mountain Base Cave, Volcanic Island

Unfortunately said determination will mean that you will have to travel to Volcanic Island through the desert of Battahl. Now, that is easier said than done, to be honest, since the way there is pretty long and filled with monsters. One of the most challenging bits you will find is the Drabnir’s Grotto, which according to an NPC, is a deadly maze. I found that traversing through it was not an issue since you can always backtrack if you take a wrong turn – which always ends up with a treasure chest reward for exploring it.

The real challenge is the amount of enemies you will get to face. I got to suffer from the presence of lesser mobs, fire Slimes, a Cyclops, and even a Griffin – no, not that Griffin. If you don’t want to get lost in the maze – which arguably won’t happen – be sure to recruit a Pawn that knows the Steeled Resolve, Blazing Forge quest way in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Use the Go command and then follow said Pawn – this won’t save you from the main fights, so keep that in mind.

Once you leave the Drabnir’s Grotto maze, follow the marker on your map and enter the Mountain Base Cave. This place is filled with Rattlers and the occasional fire Slime, so be mindful of that. I suggest taking care of all enemies on the way. Why? Well, Sara, that’s why. You will eventually meet here next to an impossible Forge – but yet again, this is a video game.

A timed escape with Sara back to Bakbattahl

You see, fixing the sword requires the heat given by this forge so that her Blazehammer is hot enough to restore the Regalia Sword. However, you will need to get out of the Mountain Base Cave fast before the heat wears down. That is why killing all the monsters in the cave is important so that you don’t get slowed down or even Sara accidentally dies. Once you get to the entrance of the cave – which again, shouldn’t be an issue if you just look at the map – she will thank you for “keepin’ up” and then head to Bakbatthal.

Head back to Brokkr’s Blacksmith in Bakbatthal and interact with Sara and you will receive the Restored Regalia Sword and she will receive Brokkr’s approval. And before you ask, no, you can’t use the Regalia Sword as a weapon. That’s a bummer, I almost felt this questline was somewhat similar to getting the Biggoron’s Sword in Ocarina of Time.

The sword is restored, and the journey over

Instead, head back to the Vernworth Castle grounds and find Roman – the soldier who gave the Regalia Sword and began this whole questline. He will receive it and you will be rewarded with XP and 35,000 Gold. I would rather keep the sword, after all, it was a long journey, but anyway, Gold it is.

This will conclude the Regalia Sword questline and the Steeled Resolve, Blazing Forge quest. I am left wondering though, wouldn’t the Blazehammer completely cool off in the middle of traveling back to Bakbattahl? Why do we need to hurry up in such a small portion of the way there compared to the rest of the Oddysey-like journey we just took?

Those are questions that will never be answered. I can only imagine that Sara has the natural ability to fast travel without any need for microtransactions. But anyway, again, suspending my disbelief is what I’ve been training throughout my gaming lifetime. After all, we are dealing with a protagonist who can live without a heart and a huge scar on the chest, so anything is possible!
