While it has absolutely been a great example of a community pulling together and of excellent communication from Bungie, Destiny 2’s weapon perk saga is arguably the biggest, strangest, and most shocking issue in the FPS game’s history. As a result, Bungie has begun its quest to make amends. Right now, you can claim a free emblem, but later down the line Bungie will also devise a way for you to get the elusive perk combinations that were being buried.

I’m sure that most of you reading this will know the situation by now, but in case you don’t, here’s a quick summary. Last week, Destiny 2 players began compiling data that appeared to prove there was some kind of bug in the game making certain combinations of weapon perks harder to get from the space game’s RNG loot drops. For months, players have anecdotally claimed that some rolls always just seem harder to get, but Bungie has always been unable to spot an in-game issue. However, after analyzing the data collected by the community, it admitted that there was indeed an issue – a big one, buried deep within Destiny 2’s code.

Bungie said a few days back that it is “rapidly working” on a fix for the weapon perk bug, and now it’s given a rough estimate of Tuesday, November 5 for when it will push that fix live. That’s of course reassuring, but Bungie is also wasting no time in making it up to players.

For a start, it’s issuing a new free Destiny 2 emblem code for the Conqueror of Infinity emblem, which is aptly themed around bullets. “We found a fitting emblem deep within our vaults that almost seemed destined for this,” Bungie says. “The emblem will represent a moment in time when many throughout the community came together to help us identify this issue. Between your data and our simulations for hundreds of thousands of drops… we’re all becoming Conquerors of Infinity.”

You can redeem the Destiny 2 Conquerors of Infinity emblem by using the code VHT-6A7-3MM. Head here to log into your Bungie account and input the code.

On top of that, Bungie is also looking to “get some weapons in your hands that had perk rolls with lower RNG chances than intended” as a result of the bug. “Not only will our RNG systems be fixed up, but you’ll have more opportunities to snag some rolls you’ve been looking for.” It doesn’t go into any more detail than that for now, but it sounds like a promising prospect.

Bungie ends its message with a further commitment to write a deep dive blog post on this whole situation to provide even more transparency into what happened, what the scale of the effect was, and how it went about fixing it.
