As the countdown to CES 2025 continues, we’ve now just had our first glimpse of the box art for an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card, which is expected to be unveiled in January 2025. The leak reveals the design for a whole box, with the distinctive Nvidia green bar along the bottom.

Nvidia is widely rumored to be unveiling the GeForce RTX 5080 specs in just a few weeks, and it looks as though board partners have been prepping for the launch for a while. According to the latest rumors, the RTX 5080 launch is going to come first, with the new RTX 5090 not arriving in stores until the end of January, or possibly not until February 2025.

This particular leak shows the packaging for a Galax GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card, which was first revealed in a post by Ruby_Rapids on X (formerly Twitter), and tech site Videocardz now claims to have verified it with Galax.

Frustratingly, very little of the text is legible in its current format, even if you zoom in, as the starting image has such a low resolution. You can read “Galax” and “GeForce RTX 5080” and that’s about it. Several of the graphics for the features on the back of the box are also identical to those of Galax’s current RTX 4080 Super cards, referring to features such as ray tracing and multi-monitor gaming, rather than outlining new features supported by the new RTX 5000 series.

The latest rumors suggest that the RTX 5080 will be similar to the RTX 4080 in terms of core specs, with 16GB of GDDR7 VRAM and a 256-bit memory interface. There’s also rumored to be a new version of Nvidia DLSS accompanying the launch, as well as “enhanced” RTX 5080 ray tracing performance. If this box is genuine, it looks as though there are no big changes coming to the branding either.

There are now only a few weeks to wait until CES 2025, when we’re hoping to get more information about the RTX 5080, but in the meantime make sure you check out our guide to the best graphics card, where we take you through all the current best options at a range of prices.
