Delta Force Season 2 is going new map crazy and adding a 3v3v3 mode

For any emerging live service game, the key to cementing yourself as a mainstay (or, if I’m being brutally honest, simply surviving the first couple of months) is to have enough content and variety to keep players sticking around. Free-to-play shooter Delta Force has done just that since it launched in open beta last month. Even though its debut season is a scaled down, shorter affair, it has still bombarded fans with new maps, modes, weapons, events, and more. Well, for Delta Force Season 2, the pace shows absolutely no signs of slowing down.

Titled Starfall, Delta Force Season 2 is, quite frankly, enormous. You’ve likely seen just how chunky the seasonal updates are for Call of Duty games these days – well, judging by today’s extremely long dev stream, Delta Force is having a good crack at matching that kind of size with Season 2. The FPS game is about to be blessed with so much new content, it’s actually making my head spin a bit.

As expected, there’s going to be another new Delta Force operator added at the start of Season 2, and they’ve been revealed as Sineva. Giving big Rainbow Six Siege vibes, Sineva comes equipped with an impenetrable riot shield, a razor wire trap, and just the general demeanor of a Siege operator. However, he’s also got a grappling hook, and grappling hooks are always amazing. Name a bad grappling hook character. I’ll wait.

Delta Force is also going to bolster its map pool in the Battlefield-style Warfare mode with two new additions. Knife Edge is a smaller infantry-only map, while Train Wreck is a medium-to-large-sized map that will let you pilot vehicles too. Those that are fans of the extraction mode, Operations, will also be getting some new play spaces. The Zero Dam map will be expanding with a huge new underground area located beneath the existing battlefield. Star City will also get a new space around the often congested Industry area and a map-altering event called Broken Bridge.

Fresh off of adding the game’s first PvE Raid experience, more modes will arrive in Delta Force too – albeit these will be as limited-time modes. Hot Zone is a 3v3v3, round-based game mode that kinda combines The Finals with CS:GO – the goal is to rack up points by winning a round, and this can be done by looting a MandelBrick and defending a zone while it decrypts, or by simply slaying all opposition players. Capture the Flag is also being added as an LTM.

Delta Force is also pinching a classic Call of Duty movement mechanic, the dolphin dive, and adding it to the game for every operator to use. This allows you to dive into a prone position and adds some extra mobility for those operators that currently lack it.

Alongside three new weapons – an assault rifle, an SMG, and an LMG – a new grenade launcher gadget is coming to a loadout near you. Support operators can wield this as a smoke grenade launcher, allowing them to lay down cover and block sight lines from longer distances. Assault operators can use it in the traditional, explosive sense, and it’ll mostly be useful for disabling vehicles.

Honestly, that’s probably only half of the stuff announced in today’s livestream. It’s pretty wild. Team Jade did also confirm that Delta Force will have four seasons throughout the course of 2025, so admittedly this Season 2 content will be used to fill a period of about three months. But still, it’s pretty impressive.

Delta Force Season 2 begins on Saturday, January 18.
