Forget being the last survivor of a zombie apocalypse, Into the Dead gives you the gauntlet of keeping a whole group of survivors alive. If you’re up for the challenge, you can download Into the Dead’s demo, as over 300,000 players have already done.

Think you could survive a zombie apocalypse? Of course you do, everyone does. In your head, you’re standing on top of the shopping mall roof, not shambling around below. But zombie game Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days’ demo proves things get a lot more complicated when you’re not the last man on Earth.

The demo, which has been downloaded an amazing 300,000+ times, is Project Zombie meets This War of Mine, set in the 1980s. Playing as one of several survivors, you head out into the world to acquire the materials you need to keep your shelter safe and your fellow survivors among the living. What could possibly go wrong?

Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days is heading into Steam Early Access in Q2 2025 and is, surprisingly, a spin-off from the Into the Dead series of mobile games, though it’s a very different animal.

For a start, stealth, rather than running like hell, is the order of the day. You don’t want the horde to know you’re there, that’s for sure. And if you do run, just how far can you get? Into the Dead’s zombies are a tad swifter than George Romero’s walking corpses, so they could well be nipping at your heels.

Plus, as any zombie fan knows, it’s not just the dead that you have to worry about. The living, whether through terrible decisions, infighting, or both, can be just as lethal. Into the Dead’s demo is just an hour-or-so long, but the full game should offer enough time for interpersonal conflicts to escalate to boiling point.

Think that sounds like something you’d like to sink your teeth into? You can download Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days’ Steam demo here.
