Just because you’re an indie game it doesn’t mean that you can’t go on to be one of the best selling titles of all time. While Minecraft and Terraria lead the way when it comes to officially reported indie game sales, the bronze medal position may surprise you. With its newly announced lifetime sales milestone of 55 million units, the physics-based platformer Human Fall Flat is now right up there in the upper echelon of indies.

Human Fall Flat has been around for a while now, but to this day it remains one of the best platform games thanks to its hilarious, wobbly psychics and steady flow of new content. What started as a game with just eight maps has ballooned over time to now have 28 of them, and countless cosmetics have also been added. Even with a sequel in the works, publisher Curve Games says in a press release that developer No Brakes Games will be “continuing to surprise and delight fans throughout the year with new content,” so expect plenty more in 2025.

Thanks to its popularity among content creators and streamers, its affordability, and its availability around the world on PC, mobile devices, VR, and pretty much every console you can buy these days, it has managed to stay relevant and continued to shift copies. Later this year, Human Fall Flat will also make its way to Amazon Luna.

As mentioned, the 55 million units the game has sold makes it the third best selling indie of all time, according to officially reported figures. Minecraft leads the way, followed by fellow survival sandbox game Terraria, with Human Fall Flat now leapfrogging Stardew Valley.

With so many people having already bought Human Fall Flat, there’s a good chance you already own it, but if you don’t, it’s currently on offer on Steam. If you grab Human Fall Flat before Thursday, February 6, you can get it with 70% off, making it just $5.99 / £4.79.
