You don’t have forever to claim the gift, however, so I wouldn’t wait around until the last minute. Still, such a short period of downtime being met by free in-game currency is always a nice surprise to wake up to.
Earlier today, NetEase Games confirmed it was looking into some “unusual server issues” in Marvel Rivals as a “top priority.” The multiplayer game then went down for a brief time, with many players reporting they couldn’t get past the lobby screen. An hour later, NetEase Games said the “servers were back up.” So while the accidental downtime wasn’t very long, the developer is still giving out a freebie as compensation.
“Hey Rivals, Servers are back up! Sorry for the inconvenience,” NetEase Games writes. “As a token of our appreciation for your patience, we’ve credited your account with 200 units as compensation. Please make sure to log into the game and claim your compensation item from your in-game mail by March 12, 2025, 00:00 UTC+0.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and truly appreciate your patience and understanding.”
Whether you were playing Rivals at the time of the shutdown or not, you’re getting some free units. You can put these towards any new skins, cosmetics, or other items you might want, but as the studio says, you don’t have forever.
You can get 200 free units via your in-game mail in Marvel Rivals, but have until Wednesday March 12 to grab them. Depending on where you live, these times are Tuesday March 11 at 4pm PT / 9pm ET / midnight GMT, and March 12 11am AEDT.
