Sunday March 2 @ 9:04am PT Capcom confirms that the issue with the Smithy has been fixed on PC.

Capcom is telling players that it is already working on multiple progress-impeding issues in Monster Hunter Wilds, with some mechanics not working as intended for players. Wilds’ launch has already become one of the biggest in Steam’s history, but it’s faced a slew of technical challenges on PC. Not only that, but the new Monster Hunter is having some major problems with a few of its core systems, which Capcom says it’s currently looking into.

On PC, Monster Hunter Wilds is already one of the biggest game launches in the platform’s history. The concurrent player number has already peaked at almost 1.4 million, but with that success comes an avalanche of divided user reviews. Players cite poor performance and frame rates, but these aren’t the only problems the RPG is faced with right now.

According to Capcom’s official Monster Hunter Status account on Twitter/X, there are a few bugs being looked into that you’ll want to keep an eye out for. Firstly, some players are visiting the Smithy but unable to use certain options thanks to repeating weapon upgrade tutorials. That means even the best Monster Hunter Wilds weapons can’t reach their full potential. Others can’t even unlock the Grill a Meal or Ingredient Center features, which makes getting buffs from food much more difficult than it needs to be.

The good news is that Capcom is on the case. “We are currently working on this issue and will provide further updates when we have them,” the team writes. We don’t know when both of these problems will be fixed, but I’d wager that the developer wants to help players progress as quickly as possible.

In the meantime I’d make sure you brush up on all the best Monster Hunter Wilds armor, to ensure that you’ll get back up after being hit halfway across an arena. Otherwise, Ken’s excellent Monster Hunter Wilds review is worth a read if you want to understand just what it is that makes Capcom’s sequel the definitive Monster Hunter experience.
