Marvel Rivals is just about to turn three months old, despite the popular hero shooter feeling like it’s been around much longer. The amount of content it’s delivered, the huge daily player counts, and even the controversial flash points it’s endured make it seem like a free-to-play staple that’s been on the block for years. Despite still being in its infancy, yet another event is about to be rolled out, and the wild new limited-time mode it introduces is going to be soaking up your free time over the next three weekends. Plus, NetEase has just dropped a short set of patch notes for the new update, which includes a couple of very welcome changes.
Titled Galacta’s Cosmic Adventure, this new Marvel Rivals event represents yet another chance to earn some free rewards. You’ll progress through a board game-style event pass that’s packed with goodies, but the highlight reward is the new Mrs. Barnes costume for Black Widow. While Galacta’s Cosmic Adventure will run for more than a month, it’s chaotic new mode Clone Rumble will be dipping in and out of the multiplayer game during that period.
Clone Rumble lets both teams vote for one hero each, creating a hero pool of just two. Then, players on either team can lock in one of those two characters to play as for the entire 6v6 match. So, you might have an entire team of Groots, or a half-Hulk, half-Hawkeye composition – whatever happens it’s going to be an… interesting… experience.
The Galacta’s Cosmic Adventure event in Marvel Rivals will run from Friday, March 7 until Friday, April 11. Clone Rumble will be available to play across the next three weekends in Marvel Rivals. Here are the exact dates and times:
- Friday, March 7 at 1am PT / 4am ET / 9am GMT / 10am CET – Monday, March 10 at 2am PT / 5am ET / 10am GMT / 11am CET
- Friday, March 14 at 2am PT / 5am ET / 10am GMT / 11am CET – Monday, March 17 at 2am PT / 5am ET / 10am GMT / 11am CET
- Friday, March 21 at 2am PT / 5am ET / 10am GMT / 11am CET – Monday, March 24 at 2am PT / 5am ET / 10am GMT / 11am CET
Aside from the new event, NetEase has also released some new patch notes for Marvel Rivals. While it’s mostly concerned with bug fixes for several hero abilities, including Jeff’s Ice Surprise and Human Torch’s Meteor Mishap, there are a couple of notable changes worth flagging.
There’s a new setting that will enhance the audio quality of your voice when communicating through a microphone, and there’s also now the ability to report people that have quit a match early if you’re still in that same match. Previously, abusive or problematic players could reduce their chances of being reported by ducking out of matches early, but this loophole has now been closed up. You can check out the full patch notes here.
