Of course, it’s an RTS, and that means you have to think tactically and make the right calls, but in a lot of cases – especially in Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert – you can win through sheer force. Build lots of tanks. Train lots of infantry. Surround your base with turrets and Tesla Coils. It’s a savage representation of modern war, where the winner is usually whoever’s holding the biggest stick. As EA releases the source code for classic C&C, the entire series, including Red Alert 2, Kane’s Wrath, Zero Hour, and Generals, is now available for the meager price of $6.
Back in 2024, it felt like the Command and Conquer series was all but dead. The Remastered Collection revived Red Alert and Tiberian Dawn, but apart from that, the best RTS game series of all time had been essentially dormant since 2011’s less-than-adored Tiberian Twilight. Recently, however, C&C has started to come back to life. First, the Ultimate Collection arrived on Steam, bundling every single Command and Conquer game ever released on PC into one single package. And just last week, official modding support arrived for dozens of C&C classics on Steam Workshop, and EA set loose the source code for Red Alert and the 1995 progenitor.
Will we ever get a new Command and Conquer game? It’s unclear right now. But whether you’re fresh to the series, want to replay the entire saga, or just have some gaps in your library, you can now get literally every single C&C game and expansion, all together, for $6.
