What are the best new PC games 2022? Perhaps you have just been paid, bank account fat with virtual dosh, or you simply want to get caught up with the latest PC games because they are, well, new and shiny.

It is all well and good starting another daring round of PUBG, taking on a new 100-hour Football Manager save, or yet another The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim adventure but, as much as we love setting mammoths ablaze, there are plenty of new PC games that will more than supply your gaming fix. You don’t want to be the person who isn’t In The Know now, do you?

The best new PC games in 2022 are:

Stray

If you haven’t heard of this adorable indie game, you’re in for a treat. Stray is about an adventurous cat that becomes caught in a city inhabited by robots, who must journey through dangers and obstacles, solving puzzles and discovering the mysterious at the centre of the Walled City.

We raved about this game in our Stray review, saying “Stray merges feline mayhem with a classic cyberpunk setting, inviting you to explore its neon dystopia while never taking itself too seriously.” It’s a mostly linear journey through different areas of the city, and in good ol’ cat fashion, you can even get your head stuck in a paper bag.

New game, MultiVersus

MultiVersus

This new fighting game is currently in open beta and has already proven popular in the genre, mainly due to its exceptional roster of heroes including some of the Game of Thrones characters and even the cast of Scooby-Doo. There are a ton of characters to unlock in Multiversus, and we’ve put together a Multiversus tier list to get you started. Be sure to keep an eye on new Multiversus characters, and to save your wallet, all the Multiversus free characters in rotation.

The best new games, Norco

Norco

Set in the real town of Norco, New Orleans, this point and click adventure game places you in the middle of the titular town as you search for your missing brother. Between the cerulean landscape masked by tufts of marred grey smog, is a story much bigger than the one you landed in. The design is gorgeous and the journey is both relaxing and electrifying, akin to games like Kentucky Route Zero and Beneath a Steel Sky.

The best new games, The Quarry

The Quarry

The next game in the Dark Pictures Anthology sees our unwitting party of teen counsellors disturbed while enjoying their last night of summer camp, and instead flung into an 80s horror. Not dissimilar to Supermassive Games’ Until Dawn, and Jason Voorhees certainly wouldn’t look out of place emerging from the dark woods.

Our teens grapple with a much larger threat than petty squabbles among friends, as blood-hungry villagers descend and things lurk in the woods beyond. To add weight to the choices you make, and of course, how quickly you press the keys, there are nine playable characters – all of which you can get out alive.

New games in 2022, V Rising

V Rising

V Rising is currently in Steam Early Access, and has already become an instant hit. It’s been likened to another early access survival game, Valheim, which released in early 2021. In this isometric open-world game, you and your pals play as weak vampires that must regain strength by hunting for blood and building up your knowledge of the world after a long slumber in a coffin. You can play solo or online with or against other vampires fighting all sorts of unholy monsters and evil creatures, all the while evading daylight and building a base worthy of Dracula. Keen to get stuck in? Here’s our ultimate beginner’s guide to V Rising, and how to build a base in V Rising, as well as all the best V Rising weapons.

New games in 2022, Galactic Civilisation 4

Galactic Civilizations 4

The fourth iteration in this space 4X series brings plenty of modern ideas and forward-thinking design to a deep, complex strategy game. Choose from one of 18 civilisations – some fan favourites, but plenty of new faces too – and guide them to glory as they explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate their way across the galaxy.

The galaxy map is now divided into sectors, and Galactic Achievements feed into the new prestige victory that can help you claim ultimate victory without the usual endgame malaise. This space game is off to a strong start, but there is plenty of room for improvement, and you can read our Galactic Civilizations IV review for more on what we thought of Stardock’s latest epic.

New games in 2022, Lego Star Wars

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

The Skywalker Saga gives you another chance to immerse yourself in George Lucas’ sci-fi fantasy world in the blocky form of Lego. But, this isn’t just a rehash of The Complete Saga with The Force Awakens tacked on: you get proper Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga space exploration in this one, which is pretty great.

The films already covered in the game have been remade, and you can tackle them in any order. You can also explore space just as you did Lego Marvel Superheroes’ Manhattan. What’s more, you can fight and explore the inside of Star Destroyers, each made of 18 million digital bricks.

There you have it, the new PC games you should be playing right now. Now, we’ll admit, we were being a little facetious earlier: new PC games aren’t necessarily the cream of the personal computer crop. For that, you should swing by our list of the best old games for the classics and the best PC games of all time, or even check out or collection of free online games, no download required.
