Breloom
Breloom will be your best leader for your Pokémon-catching build in Scarlet and Violet. False Swipe allows you to hit a Pokémon without knocking its HP to zero. Spore puts the wild Pokémon to sleep, and Stun Spore inflicts paralysis. Breloom can also tank a few hits from wild Pokémon, especially if you’re trying to farm high-level Pokémon.
Gallade
Gallade is an evolution from the male Ralts, a strong core Pokémon. Gallade can learn a plethora of moves, hence we chose it for the team. Make sure to learn Thunder Wave using a TM, which allows Gallade to paralyze the opponent. Hypnosis then allows Gallade to put opponents to sleep, making Pokémon easier to catch. As for the other move, you can freely learn any move to your liking, but only use it when necessary. Additionally, if you’re dealing with a Pokémon that inflicts status ailments, try getting a Covert Cloak.
Masquerain
Masquerain is on our best Pokémon-catching build in Scarlet and Violet for one reason: its ability called Soak. Soak turns any Pokémon into a water-type Pokémon. Since grass Pokémon can not be afflicted with Spore, you can swap out to Masquerain, change the opponent’s type to water, and use Spore to put them to sleep. Masquerain’s ability is called Intimidate, lessening the attack of the wild Pokémon, which decreases the chance of getting one hit. Overall, Masquerain is a good anchor Pokémon for this team.
Other Pokémon you can use for our best Scarlet and Violet build
We purposely left the team open for three more Pokémon so you can bring any Pokémon you want to level up while filling up your Pokédex. You can further optimize leveling Pokémon by removing Gallade and leaving Masquerain and Breloom. We do not recommend removing Gallade to increase the variety of your Pokémon types. Your Breloom needs a backup in case it gets one-shot by a strong fire Pokémon.
Acquiring this team will surely take you up until the mid-game. However, it is worth it as you’ll raise the odds of catching a Pokémon. This team is our best Pokémon-catching build in Scarlet and Violet. Give it a shot, and good luck.
