Alongside the likes of Splinter Cell and Hitman, Assassin’s Creed stands proudly as one of the most accomplished and popular stealth game series ever. Sure, there’s been a couple of subpar AC games over the years, and there are more ways to play the more modern games than just parkour and sneaking. But Ubisoft’s ol’ reliable series is about to grow once again pretty soon with Assassin’s Creed Shadows on the horizon, and in preparation, loads of past games in the series are dirt cheap at the moment on Steam.

After a long run of misses, from the doomed XDefiant to the underwhelming Star Wars Outlaws, Ubisoft is in desperate need of a win when the Assassin’s Creed Shadows release date arrives. Recently delayed for a second time, it’s doing everything it can to make sure it launches in the best possible state. The good news to come from that delay is that you’ve got a bit more time to catch up on any older entries in the stealth game series that may have passed you by, and this new Steam sale is going to help you do that without breaking the bank. With the exception of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, all the mainline Assassin’s Creed games on Steam are on offer right now, with discounts ranging from 60% to 85%.

The most recent entry in the series, 2013’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage, took a punt by deviating away from the huge, 50-hour-plus experiences that some of its immediate predecessors offered. But this stripped back offering, which focused on taking gameplay back to its stealthy roots, is one of the best. Our AC Mirage review dubbed it ‘the best since Brotherhood’ – high praise indeed. Despite being the newest Assassin’s Creed game, it’s been given a generous 60% discount to make it just $19.99 / £17.99.

The three colossal open-world RPG experiences that came before it – Valhalla, Odyssey, and Origins – are also currently super cheap with 75%, 80%, and 85% discounts applied, respectively. While sometimes exhausting to get through, there’s no denying that Assassin’s Creed’s journeys to England, ancient Greece, and Egypt are all a sight to behold and offer plenty of bang for your buck.

My personal favorite game in the entire series, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, is now $11.99 / £10.19 thanks to a 70% discount, letting you live out the pirate fantasy in the Caribbean.

The original Assassin’s Creed and AC 2 are also hilariously cheap thanks to this sale – each game is available for just $4.99 / £2.14. If you’re a latecomer to the series, go and check out where it all began.

If you really want to show your love for Assassin’s Creed (or you’ve somehow got the time to play through every game in the series) Steam’s Assassin’s Creed bundle collates all of these deals in one place and gives you the lot for $135.98 / £117.65. It’s the best way to browse through all of the current AC deals as well, so if you’re looking to capitalize on this sale, check it out here.
