The Season of the Wish brought several balance changes to Destiny 2, especially if you’re a Titan. Strand Titans saw massive nerfs to their beloved Banner of War builds, but don’t despair. Bungie has brought a classic Titan Exotic back from the dead, and we’re going to take advantage of it. Here’s the best Destiny 2 Solar Titan build: PvP and PvP

Best PvE Solar Titan build in Destiny 2
Titans have a few solid Solar build options to play with, but the one we’re focusing on involves the Peregrine Greaves. These Exotic boots received a massive buff in the Season of the Witch and offer a potent, easy-to-use playstyle.
Best PvE Solar Titan Aspects and Fragments
Aspects
- Sol Invictus – Solar ability final blows, Hammer of Sol impacts, and defeating scorched targets creates Sunspots. Your abilities regenerate faster, and your Super drains more slowly while standing in a Sunspot. Sunspots apply scorch and deal damage to targets inside. Entering a Sunspot applies Restoration.
- Roaring Flames – Final blows with Solar abilities or ignitions increase the damage of your Solar abilities. Stacks 3 times
Fragments
- Ember of Blistering – Defeating targets with Solar ignitions grants grenade energy
- Ember of Searing – Defeating scorched targets grants melee energy and creates a Firesprite
- Ember of Mercy – When you revive an ally, you and other nearby allies gain Restoration. Picking up a Firesprite grants restoration
- Ember of Singeing – Your Class Ability recharges faster when you scorch targets.
The Aspect descriptions are rather wordy, but the most important takeaway is that our Hammer Strike creates Sunspots that apply Restoration. Survivability is just as crucial as dealing damage, and Sol Invictus helps with that. Roaring Flames is a blanket buff to all our Solar abilities and is a straight DPS increase.
We love grenades in this build, and Ember of Blistering means we see them more often. Ember of Searing creates Firesprites, which pairs nicely with Ember of Mercy. Although it’s a footnote on the Fragment, Ember of Mercy means we gain Restoration when we pick up Firesprites.
Finally, Ember of Singeing lets us see our Barricade more often. While not as impactful as it would be on a Void Titan build, it’s a good panic button.
Best PvE Solar Titan Abilities
- Super – Hammer of Sol
- Class Ability – Towering Barricade
- Jump – Strafe Lift
- Melee – Hammer Strike
- Grenade – Solar Grenade
The most critical choice in this section is Hammer Strike, but you can go with your favorites for everything else. I swear by the Strafe Lift jump, as it feels great and is easy to use with the Peregrine Greaves. The Solar Grenades are classics and hit a massive area, but go with your favorites here.
Best PvE Solar Titan Exotic Armor, weapons, and mods
Exotic Armor
- Peregrine Greaves – All Shoulder Charge abilities deal bonus damage when performed in the air. Damaging Mini-bosses or Champions with a Shoulder Charge refunds your melee.
Weapons
- Sunshot Exotic Hand Cannon
Armor Mods
- Helmet – Resilience Mod, Heavy Ammo Finder, Harmonic Syphon x2
- Arms – Discipline Mod, Firepower, Grenade Kickstart
- Chest – Resilience Mod, Resistance Mods
- Legs – Resilience Mod, Innervation
- Mark – Resilience Mod, Reaper, Bomber x2
The Peregrine Greaves define the build and our playstyle as a Solar Titan. These Exotic boots got a massive buff in the Season of the Wish, putting the power of our Hammer Strike through the roof. With this build, we rely heavily on our melee ability, as we can knock out many of the toughest enemies in a single hit.
Although “Mini-bosses or Champions” might sound like a restrictive caveat with our Exotic armor, it’s surprising how many enemy types fall under this umbrella.
One thing I adore about this build is how flexible it is for our weapon choices. The Sunshot Exotic Handcannon is phenomenal, but you can use just about anything in your Kinetic and Heavy slots. Although it’s not ‘optimal,’ I’ve been having a blast with the Dragons Breath Rocket Launcher when I take a break from the Sunshot.
We’re shooting for 100 Resilience with our Armor mods, as the 30% damage reduction is too good to pass up. Ideally, you want as close to 100 Discipline as grenades are so valuable, but this is secondary to your survivability. Our remaining Mods amp up our grenades as we get so much from their Scorch effect.
Best PvP Solar Titan build in Destiny 2
With how incredible the Peregrine Greaves are in PvE, it’s no surprise that they also have applications in PvP. While your skill against other Guardians takes center stage in Crucible, this build offers a straightforward playstyle with clearly defined strengths.
Best PvP Solar Titan Aspects and Fragments
- Consecration – While sliding, activate your charged melee ability to launch a wave of Solar energy forward, damaging and scorching targets in front of you as you leap into the air. While airborne, activate your charged melee again to slam to the ground and create a second Solar energy.
Fragments
- Ember of Searing – Defeating scorched targets grants melee energy and creates a Firesprite
- Ember of Mercy – When you revive an ally, you and other nearby allies gain Restoration. Picking up a Firesprite grants restoration
- Ember of Singeing – Your Class Ability recharges faster when you scorch targets
- Ember of Solace – Radiant and restoration effects applied to you have increased duration.
Our Sol Invictus Aspect returns from our PvE build, granting Sun Spots. These Sun Spots give us faster ability regeneration, but they also apply Restoration, which is uninterruptible. Consecration is incredible in PvP, as it can hit multiple opponents. Decent players will still be able to team-shot you, but it’s a solid Aspect nonetheless.
We use similar Fragments in our PvE build but have swapped out Ember of Blistering for Ember of Solace. The Embers of Singeing, Mercy, and Searing synergize so well, creating Firesprites that trigger Restoration.
Solace makes the Restoration effect last 50% longer, giving us much-needed sustain in team fights.
Best PvP Solar Titan Abilities
- Super – Hammer of Sol
- Class Ability – Towering Barricade
- Jump – Strafe Lift
- Melee – Hammer Strike
- Grenade – Tripmine Grenade
Once again, these Abilities are mostly unchanged from the PvE build, but with good reason. The Towering Barricade is excellent in PvP as it’s so oppressive and can be used to shut down lanes. I love Strafe Lift for the directional movement, and Hammer Strike is the defacto Titan melee ability. You have some freedom with grenades, but I die to Tripmines more often than the others, thanks to their burst damage.
Weapons
- Ammit AR2 Auto Rifle
- Conditional Finality Exotic Shotgun
Armor Mods
- Helmet – Resilience Mod, Solar Targeting x2
- Arms – Discipline Mod, Firepower, Solar Dexterity
- Chest – Resilience Mod, Unflinching Solar Aim x2
- Legs – Resilience Mod, Innervation
- Mark – Resilience Mod, Reaper, Bomber x2
The Peregrine Greaves ensure anything we hit with our Hammer Strike dies without question. As these boots require us to be airborne, you can try some flashy movement and attack from off angles.
I always jump at the chance to recommend the Ammit AR2, and it’s perfect for the Solar Titan. The Ammit AR2 is an incredible Solar Auto Rifle with a punchy damage profile and controllable rate of fire. All of our Solar Armor Mods are picked to make this gun even stronger. Shotguns are the MVP in Crucible, so Conditional Finality is an easy choice. That said, any Shotgun will work just fine.
Finally, our Mods are geared toward buffing our Solar Auto Rifle. You can swap out the Solar Mods to fit your weapon of choice. Stats aren’t as impactful in PvP as in PvP, but I still recommend shooting for 100 points in Resilience if possible.
