Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree adds a ton of incredibly powerful Remembrance weapons, and the Gazing Finger (obtained by defeating the Mother of Fingers) is one of the best options. This guide covers the best Gazing Finger build and details which stats to focus on, the best Talisman, and more.
Best stats for Gazing Finger build in Elden Ring
The Gazing Finger is a Colossal Weapon in Shadow of the Erdtree that scales with Strength (C), Intelligence (D), and Faith (E). As you upgrade the Gazing Finger, both Intelligence and Strength increase in scaling, whereas Faith remains at its base level. Strength raises to B and Intelligence raises to C scaling.
With this scaling in mind, your primary focus should be to invest as many points into Strength and then start investing into Intelligence when you begin to see a dropoff of increased damage from your Strength stat. Following this method will maximize the amount of damage Gazing Finger can do.
I wouldn’t bother investing much into Faith unless you want to cast incantations for buffs such as Golden Vow. Otherwise, you won’t see increased damage for the Gazing Finger and you’ll be wasting attribute points. Lastly, make sure you are leveling up your Vigor, Endurance, and Mind occasionally to increase health, stamina, and FP for casting the Gazing Finger’s unique skill.
Best Talisman for the Gazing Finger in Elden Ring
Choosing the right Talisman is crucial in making your Gazing Finger build shine. The goal here is to maximize your damage output, increase poise, and raise defense. Below are my picks for the best Talisman for the Gazing Finger.
- Shard of Alexander: Greatly boosts the attack power of skills. (Dropped by Iron Fist Alexander at the end of his questline).
- Bull-Goat’s Talisman: Raises Poise. (Found within Dragonbarrow Cave).
- Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman: Enormously boosts physical damage negation. (Found in a chest in the Haligree dungeon).
- Erdtree’s Favor +2: Greatly raises maximum HP, stamina, and equip load. (Found on a corpse in Leyndell, Ashen Capital).
The setup above is a great way to deal more damage, while also being able to sustain getting hit by your enemies. First off, the Shard of Alexander simply increases the damage of the Knowtower’s Resentment skill, an AoE attack that is great at dealing with mobs of enemies. Holding down the button for this attack deals even more damage, which is why we want Bull-Goat’s Talisman equipped as well. This Talisman can help reduce flinching when getting hit, allowing you to charge the Knowtower’s Resentment skill.
Erdtree’s Favor +2 greatly increases HP, stamina, and equip load. The most important buff is the higher equip load this Talisman provides. Having a higher equipped load allows you to equip heavier armor with even higher poise, preventing you from being staggered while executing attacks. Lastly, top it all off with the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman to increase defense.
Best armor for the Gazing Finger in Elden Ring
As previously mentioned, the Gazing Finger’s special skill does much more damage when you hold down the skill button. So when it comes to armor, we want to have high poise so you can charge the attack while getting hit. I recommend either Verdigris or Lionel’s armor set if your Endurance can handle it. If not, you can use the following to reach high poise:
- Verdigris Helm
- Black Knight Armor
- All-Knowing Gauntlets
- Black Night Greaves
This is the setup I am currently using and I only have 28 Stamina. With the Bull-Goat Talisman and these armor pieces, your Poise will be sitting nicely at 88.
