Much as I enjoy Warzone, Call of Duty: Zombies has always been the franchise spin-off I’ve enjoyed the most. It’s just so satisfying to team up and take on a hoard of undead. To celebrate 115 day, Treyarch has revealed the shooter’s new map, and the return of a fan-favorite feature that’ll making cleaving through the living dead that much easier.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 brought another installment of Zombies, the ongoing FPS game that’s become a hallmark of Treyarch’s work in the property. Since it’s 115 day – January 15, dubbed so because it matches element 115 that brought the dead back to life in-universe – we’ve gotten a state of play for 2025.

There are some strong updates coming to the zombie game. Among them a new map, The Tomb, a set of catacombs that have lay dormant for centuries. Until now, where you and your other explorers will be uncovering the horrors contained within.

While the location is new, it borrows ideas from the popular Liberty Falls, though going for “tighter play spaces with a focus on replayability.” There’ll be plenty of surprises, and a Wonder Weapon drawing from previous games – ooh!

But what will be more enticing to experienced players is the return of mid-round pausing in co-op. Starting with Season 2, party leaders can pause for the round for a brief time, allowing people to stretch, use the bathroom or whatever else they need to. A very handy resource for the multiplayer game.

It was last seen in Black Ops: Cold War, but was removed in Vanguard and 2023’s Modern Warfare 3. Treyarch may not have included it at launch, but the notes state the devs are keen to get it back in place.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies is now running  a double xp event until January 21, 2025. Have a look at our lists of the best horror games and the best survival games if you need more scares in your life.
