DBD update release date, FNAF chapter, PTB, and latest news

What is the next Dead by Daylight Chapter? New chapters arrive in Dead by Daylight every three months, and it can be difficult to keep up with the new characters, maps, and more. Luckily, these updates arrive on a fairly rigid schedule, so we can usually look forward to the next DBD chapter before we even know what it is.

With so much additional content, it’s incredible that Behaviour Interactive is able to come up with new perks and powers for the latest DBD killers and survivors. The last Dead by Daylight character to enter The Fog was the gruesomely gorgeous Houndmaster and her pet dog, Snug. Joining them was Taurie Cain, the first Scottish survivor in the horror game. Next, a licensed killer arrives alone, with the DBD FNAF update to follow this summer. Here’s everything we know about the next DBD updates and PTBs.

DBD PTB release time

The next DBD PTB starts on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at 8am PST / 11am EST / 3pm GMT. The PTB lasts for roughly two weeks ahead of the full update the following month.

This next Steam PTB not only includes a new killer but is also the start of the new QoL roadmap, more details about which are below. It is the first time we’ll see new changes to slugging mechanics and the upcoming ‘Surrender’ mechanic.

Next DBD chapter release date

The DBD Chapter 35 release date is Wednesday, April 2, 2025, following a three-week delay. There is still no confirmation which killer the new chapter features, but we do know it’s a single, licensed killer.

Chapter 35 was delayed following an announcement that Behaviour is concentrating on fixing the community’s biggest complaints. On February 17, 2025, Behaviour revealed a quality-of-life roadmap, confirming that the dev is committed to changing players’ experience.

The DBD community has been up-in-arms for a long time regarding the current state of the game, with survivors often killing themselves or disconnecting while killers regularly hold the game hostage. These issues are more important to the community and the devs than new content right now, and are the focus for 2025.

DBD FNAF release date estimate

The DBD FNAF chapter is still set to arrive in Summer 2025. However, a new focus on quality of life changes is set to impact release dates, so we’re not sure exactly when the chapter will arrive.

As we discuss below, Behaviour announced a delay to upcoming to chapters due to a renewed focus on existing gameplay. That said, the Five Nights at Freddy’s chapter is still set to arrive this Summer, with only a three-week delay having been caused to Chapter 35.

We’ll know more when the next DBD Anniversary broadcast takes place, presumably in May 2025, when the team announces more details about the QoL changes, as well as more on the future of the game.

How to download and play the DBD PTB

There is no live PTB at the moment, but when the next test build goes live, you can download and play on Steam. To download the latest DBD PTB on Steam:

• Right-click on the game in your Steam library
• Click on ‘Properties’
• Open the ‘Betas’ tab
• Select the ‘public-test’ from the beta participation drop-down menu
• Redownload the game

Your progress is saved from the base version of Dead by Daylight, and any spent Bloodpoints, Bloodweb progression, and unlocked characters are reset to your last saved point when you return to the release version.

While we’re most of the way through this year, there is one more chapter to come in April. More details of what’s to come will then be revealed in the next Anniversary livestream in May 2025.
