The Dead Space system requirements won’t turn your gaming PC into a necromorph, but the necessary CPU specs needed to run the horror game might give you the willies. Things aren’t quite so scary when it comes to graphics cards, but the remake looks like it may push even the most powerful pixel pushers.

According to the Dead Space system requirements on Steam, you’re going to need one of the best gaming CPU options to board the USG Ishimura. Motive advises using something at least on par with the Intel Core i5 8600 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X, with the recommended specs jumping up much higher to the Core i5 11600K and Ryzen 5 5600X. Those latter two chips are only a few years old, so procuring a newer processor may help bring the gory sci-fi shooter’s corpses to life.

Here are the Dead Space system requirements:

Minimum Recommended
OS Windows 10 64-bit Windows 10 64-bit
CPU Intel Core i5 8600
AMD Ryzen 5 2600X
Intel Core i5 11600K
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
RAM 16GB 16GB
GPU Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070
AMD Radeon RX 5700
Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070
AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT
VRAM 8GB 8GB
Storage 50GB 50GB

Dead Space GPU requirements aren’t quite as ravenous, with Motive suggesting the ageing Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 will provide enough horsepower. However, those looking to boost fps or enjoy the game’s ray tracing features will be better served by the GeForce RTX 2070 or Radeon RX 6700 XT.

There’s no word yet on whether Nvidia DLSS will be supported, or other upscaling technologies such as AMD FSR and Intel XeSS. The same can be said for Nvidia PhysX, but we can only hope we can look forward to some great ragdoll effects come the Dead Space remake release date.

Dead Space Steam Deck compatibility

Motive hasn’t announced Dead Space Steam Deck compatibility, and Valve hasn’t marked the game as Verified or Playable. What we do know is that the wretched romp will arrive will support the best PC controllers, so portable powerhouse gamepad issues shouldn’t be a thing, which will help players take the reimagined horror classic on the go.
