Diablo 4’s much-anticipated Season 8: Season of Witchcraft has been pushed back by two weeks, to add a little polish. The good news, if you’re a long-time Diablo player, is that Blizzard is teasing the return of an ‘old friend’.
Season of Witchcraft, Diablo 4’s eighth season, was set to unleash hell in the middle of April, but that’s now not happening. As tweeted by Blizzard producer Rod Fergusson, this action RPG game’s next season has been bumped two weeks.
In short, the season needs more polish, a not unfamiliar story. Fergusson explained that “In the spirit of serving the game, not the plan, Season 8 will take a couple of weeks longer to bake than we initially anticipated.”
So when will Diablo 4 fans actually get to tackle this new season, which promises to let players unleash powerful spells from three schools of magic? The game’s character screen and battlepass menu reportedly displayed April 15th as the end date for Season 7, which is in line with our own Diablo 4 Season 8 release date estimate. Add on two weeks and you get an April 29 release date.
However, Fergusson wasn’t just the bearer of bad tidings, he also offered a tantalising tidbit about this upcoming season. “Looking forward to seeing an old ‘friend’”, he remarked.
Given that Diablo himself is absent from the game, could we be getting a return visit from old red? It wouldn’t be the first time witchcraft has restored a fallen foe, just ask Darth Maul. We’ll have to wait till the end of April to find out.
