Think you could rebuild the world from a ruin? Now’s your chance to find out. Endzone is a seriously underrated city-builder and right now it’s less than $5 on Steam. So what are you waiting for?
Ask someone to come up with an end-of-the-world scenario, and there’s every chance it’ll involve zombies, nuclear war, asteroids or some combination of all three. But what happens then? City building game Endzone – A World Apart challenges you to pick through the wreckage and restore humanity to some semblance of existence.
Endzone does take place after a nuclear disaster, with what remains of the human race emerging from underground. But it’s more like Frostpunk than Fallout, and potentially as unforgiving. If your inhabitants need fresh water, you can’t tell them to drink from a toilet and feed them a few doses of Radaway later; your decisions could cost lives.
Meteorological values change from area to area, so even choosing where to put your settlement can have a profound effect. Given that it’s been a mere 150 years since the world went to hell, even the atmosphere can be your enemy.
Endzone’s settlements nail the ramshackle look, with buildings put together from scraps, fallen planks and more. Freezing to death is less of an issue than in Frostpunk, but you’ll have plenty of challenges to contend with. And, should you succeed, you’ll have that warm fuzzy feeling of knowing you’ve restored humanity who definitely won’t ruin the planet a second time. Probably.
This survival-heavy city-builder is a steal at under $5 on Steam and the game’s DLC is also discounted. And if you finish that there’s a sequel, Endzone 2, to explore. Endzone’s massive 85% discount runs until Monday, January 20, so you’ve not got long.
