The Sharran Sanctuary is a small location you can find within the Shadowlands in Baldur’s Gate 3. If you haven’t stumbled upon this location don’t feel bad. This is very easy to miss if you aren’t paying close attention to the area. But it’s well worth going to find some extra insight into Shar and for an opportunity to gain approval from Shadowheart. Here’s how you can find and enter the Sharran Sanctuary in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3: Solving the Sharran Sanctuary

First things first, in order to get into the Sharran Sanctuary we need to solve a little puzzle. Luckily we’ve already covered where you need to go and what to do. So be sure to check out our guide on solving the plaque puzzle before moving on.

Once inside you’ll be greeted with a spiral staircase and an ominous statue of Lady Shar herself below. But there’s not much to do in this room that’s immediately apparent. Well, in order to reveal the secrets of Sharran Sanctuary in Baldur’s Gate 3, we need to solve three more problems. In this room, there are three statues of Shar, one in the center with the other two hiding behind pillars. Each one has a Plaque that you can read that poses a question to you, which you can answer with a Saving Throw.

In order to have the Sharran Sanctuary open up, you need to read all three plaques and pass each Saving Throw. The DC for each is 14, so it’s not too high. However, you should still save and get ready to reload if you aren’t quite able to meet that threshold. Some Classes in Baldur’s Gate 3 may also have unique options you can make. For instance, my Warlock character was able to use its background for a unique dialogue option on the center statue. You don’t need to worry about having these though since a Saving Throw on all three statues is possible regardless of class or character.

Once all three plaques have been sufficiently answered, a door will open up behind the center statue. Within lies an altar to Shar which asks you to draw blood. This might seem scary, but nothing bad comes from drawing blood here. For starters, Shadowheart will approve of this action, which is more than enough of a reason to do it. And as a bonus, you’ll receive a Scroll of Blight and Revivify, as well as an Elixir of Necrotic Resistance plus a Potion of Angelic Reprieve. These are nice goodies to have for what amounts to very little work. So visiting the Sharran Sanctuary in Baldur’s Gate 3 should be on your to-do list.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is now available on PC.
