Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is a truly unforgettable game. Between the colorful cast of characters and emotionally shattering story beats, it’s an RPG I find myself appreciating more the second time around. This sentiment is echoed by a lot of the new Steam players as well, with Rebirth already eclipsing Remake’s concurrent player counts mere days into its PC launch. If these numbers keep climbing, by the time we reach the third installment in the FF7 remake project, the PC release will be huge.

Now that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is finally out on Steam, it’s doing incredibly well. The second part of Square Enix’s remake trilogy is high on the top sellers chart for Valve’s platform, and the launch has grown when compared to the previous game. With the critical reception, both on PS5 last year and PC recently, it’s easy to see why. My very own Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PC review is glowing, with the characters and music total highlights. Rebirth does have its flaws, and they’re more obvious on my second playthrough, but the emotional highs outweigh these lows.

If you’re yet to play the RPG, jumping in on PC now is the perfect time. The performance can be shaky in the open-world areas, but the lighting, character detail, and ability to crank it up to 120 fps make PC the best way to experience the game.

At the time of writing, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s PC port is doing incredibly well on Steam. The concurrent player peak for the sequel is already at an impressive 37,895, and it looks like that number will go higher. This comes just two days after Rebirth launched on PC on Thursday January 23.

By comparison, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade’s Steam launch was much weaker. Since it arrived in 2022 the game has managed a concurrent player peak of just 13,803, albeit with relatively strong user reviews. 89% of players enjoyed Remake Intergrade, with over 28,000 players leaving their impressions on Valve’s platform.
