The team at The Pokémon Company International, in collaboration with the team at Niantic, have announced that Gigantamax Pokémon will make their way to Pokémon GO starting October 26.
The Gigantamax Pokémon mechanic will expand upon the Dynamax feature that was introduced to Pokémon GO on September 10. With it in place, Trainers will be able to allow select Pokémon to grow and change their appearance during battles.
Pokémon GO players will be able to encounter Gigantamax Pokémon during limited-time events, starting with the original Gen 1 starters Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. Note that these Pokémon will be more difficult to battle than other Dynamax Pokémon, requiring teamwork with other Trainers in order to succeed.

Ramin Djawadi said the following:
“Gigantamax is larger than life and the perfect opportunity to compose this epic theme for the Pokémon GO trailer. We endeavored to create a theme that parallels the hero’s journey. As tensions rise in the shadows of these gargantuan Pokémon, players come together for an unforgettable experience as they overcome the impossible.”
