With huge battles and raids, animal taming, enjoyable survival mechanics, and some excellent kingdom building, there’s already a lot going on in Myth of Empires. However, the sandbox survival game will soon get even bigger with a Persia-inspired expansion, and its developer has just given fans a first look at over a dozen gorgeous new weapons.
Despite some pre-launch dramas, Myth of Empires finally emerged in 1.0 last year to great excitement and popularity. While player counts for the historical sandbox game have tapered off, it still keeps its modest but dedicated community coming back for more. One big moment that could see it explode once again will be the long-awaited release of its Persian Civilization DLC, the first major expansion for Myth of Empires. While it was meant to be out before the end of 2024, developer Angela Game has just confirmed that it’ll “commence internal functional testing very soon.” Unless any truly terrifying bugs are encountered, that hopefully means we’ll see it within the next couple of months.
Several aspects of the new DLC, such as additional vehicles and a new cave inhabited by a giant sandworm, have already been revealed, but now it’s the turn of the 13 new weapons to get their time in the spotlight. To make its enormous guild battles feel unique, there’s a pretty diverse combat system in Myth of Empires, and these new weapons are just as varied. From axes, to sabers, to spears, there’s a lot on offer – and the renders look pretty excellent too.
For example, there’s the one-handed White Wolf Waist Knife, which can be held flat alongside you as you charge into battle on horseback, decapitating anyone that stands in your way. The two-handed Sabo Plate Hammer, meanwhile, is highly resistant to breakage and “extremely destructive.” As well as melee weapons, there are also two bows and two shields being added to the arsenal.

The Persia DLC for Myth of Empires currently has no release date, but as mentioned, internal testing is getting underway, so it shouldn’t be too far away now.
