Many of the Shrines scattered across Hyrule go from being pretty easy, to very complex. This Shrine from Tears of the Kingdom in particular may seem easy at first, but it involves a lot more thinking than you’d imagine. The Kiuyoyou Shrine is located northwest of Hyrule Castle, which I found on my way to Hebra. If you’re wondering how to solve the Fire and Ice Shrine puzzles in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, we can help.
Fire and Ice Shrine puzzle solutions in Tears of the Kingdom
The main issue when it comes to this Shrine has to do with the ice blocks. Knowing how to shape them and when to use them will help you immensely. Walking into this Shrine, you’ll spot a pressure plate blasted with fire, and a giant ice block dispenser.
You’ll want to make the ice block small enough to get through the room to your left. Use your Ultrahand ability to melt the ice block under the fire. Once it’s small enough to fit on the small pressure plate on the left side of this room, you can place the ice block on top.
How to reach the chest in the Fire and Ice Shrine
Now, on the left side of this next room, you should see a chest high up. You can Ascend to try and reach it, but you’ll need that block of ice to help you. Go back to the ice block you used to open this area, and place it on the platform under the chest.
I was worried at first that taking the ice block off the plate would shut the door, but it doesn’t! Now you can Ascend to the platform, jump on the ice block, and reach the chest. Inside is a Zonaite Spear.
What to do with the stone slab in the Fire and Ice Shrine
Next up is flying across the large gap using the gusts of wind provided. When you arrive, you should see another ice dispenser, more scorching fire, and a stone slab. It’s not too difficult to use Ultrahand to grab the ice block before it melts too much. But, you’re welcome to use the stone slab to block the fire and grab the large ice block.
Then, you need to use Ultrahand to attach the stone slab on top of the ice block, so it can slide down the spiky slope. Link however, can fly back down using his paraglider. Finally, bring the ice block and stone slab structure into the main room. You can now use the ice block with the stone slab protecting it to activate the large pressure plate.
The one I slid down was too small, but luckily if it’s destroyed, the ice dispenser gives you a new one. That’s all it takes to figure out how to solve the Fire and Ice Shrine puzzles in Tears of the Kingdom!
