Lionsgate to Adapt Outlast for New Horror Film

Red Barrels is teaming up with Lionsgate and horror producer Roy Lee to develop a feature film anchored in the Outlast series universe.

JT Petty, Red Barrels scribe, will work on the Outlast film’s screenplay. 

JT Petty had to said to say the following:

“Red Barrels has been pushing the limits of horror in games for more than a decade, says JT Petty. Expanding the Outlast Universe into film is an incredible opportunity to dive deeper into the characters and killers we love.”

Prolific horror film producer Roy Lee (It, Barbarian) will lead the adaptation, bringing the authenticity that has made the Outlast franchise a fan favorite for more than 37 million players worldwide.

Roy Lee said the following:

“When Outlast launched in 2012, it changed the landscape of horror gaming, setting a new standard for immersion in the genre.

Its deep, emergent lore has provided a perfect foundation for creating a film that delves into the psychological and physical horrors at the core of the franchise. I’m excited to bring this unique world to life for both new viewers and the series’ dedicated fans.”

David Chateauneuf, Co-Founder and Creative Director at Red Barrels, added:
