If you’ve been begging NetEase Games to institute a version of role lock in Marvel Rivals, the fingers on the monkey’s paw have started to curl. Instead of a new take on Overwatch’s longstanding queue and balance solution, we’re getting a brand new game mode, and it’s going to be limited to just two selectable heroes per team. So if you want to play matches where you mirror the other team on purpose, this is your chance.

Called ‘Clone Rumble,’ the set up is simple: Each team votes on one hero to be included in a multiplayer game, and then every player in the match can select between the two. Yes, that means you could stack a team of Groot walls, Luna Snow ults, or Adam Warlock revives. Is it going to be chaos? Absolutely. Is it going to be easy to tell what’s going on? Absolutely not.

Traditional Marvel Rivals team compositions are going out the window, as both sides can freely stack abilities and ults to create completely unbeatable synergies. This is definitely not going to feel balanced, but then again, the prospect of surrounding the enemy from all sides with six different Scarlet Witch ults does put a smile on my face.

There’s also a board game you can travel across as a part of the event, with plenty of nameplates, emotes, sprays, and units up for grabs (320 by my count). So if you want to get some extra currency for your next Marvel Rivals skin, completing challenges for this event is the perfect way to do so. Black Widow is even getting an old western gunslinger costume, based on her 1872 comic appearance where she married Bucky Barnes, so there’s plenty of reasons to get involved with the chaos.

NetEase Games says the Clone Rumble game mode will start from Friday March 7, but we don’t know how long it’ll run for just yet.
