Razer is going back to the gaming chair drawing board with its new Project Arielle concept. The latest Razer gaming chair idea isn’t quite ready for prime time just yet, but will be “the world’s first heating and cooling” gaming chair when it arrives, assuming no other manufacture beats Razer to the punch before its actually available.
Razer Project Arielle, which is being demoed at the CES trade show in Las Vegas right now, is being built on “the framework” of the Razer Fujin Pro, which is the company’s current most premium gaming chair option. As one of the best gaming chairs around when it comes to comfort, and using a breathable mesh back and seat design, it’s a great starting point for a chair that’s all about letting you feel the air around you, whether it’s hot or cold.
Razer is saying that Project Arielle will sport a “bladeless fan system” to keep “noise levels as soft as a whisper” as the chair wafts its cooling or warming air. The air blown by the fan can be heated up to 30°C (86F) or left to puff ambient air at you, which Razer claims can “reduce the perceived temperature by 2°C to 5°C (35-41 Fahrenheit).”
A small panel protruding from the side of the seat provides controls for fan speed and air temperature, with three speeds available. Air is drawn in from a section to the rear base of the seat and appears to be blown out from all around the edges of the back of the seat. It’s unclear from Razer’s demo video if air also exits around the seat base or indeed is directed straight up from underneath the chair – where arguably it’s of most benefit. There is, though, lighting around the back and base that glows blue to indicate it’s cooling and red to show its warming you.
This isn’t the first gaming chair concept Razer has shown off at CES. Previously it has demonstrated its Project Brooklyn (2021) gaming cockpit, which is yet to see the light of day as an actual product, and Project Carol (2023) rumble cushion and surround audio headrest, which has arrived in part as the Razer Freyja haptic gaming chair cushion.
It’s not known if Razer will ever launch Project Arielle, but it looks like quite a finished product and we can certainly see the appeal of a chair that actively heats and cools you.
Razer isn’t just introducing furniture at the show, as it has launched what could be the next best gaming laptop, the Blade 16 2025. This packs in an Nvidia RTX 5090 and AMD Ryzen AI HX 370 into one slim and sleek machine.
