If you want an immersive co-op shooter, Ready or Not leads the way as one of the prime candidates. While the SWAT FPS has attracted some controversy over the last couple of years, both before and after its 1.0 release, there’s no denying its popularity and intricate attention to detail. Fresh off of releasing its second big DLC expansion, Ready or Not (and all of its additional content) is now half price on Steam.

The 2024 Steam Winter Sale is now in full flow, and some of this year’s top new PC games are enjoying some great discounts. Among them is Ready or Not, which puts you and your pals into the uniforms of a SWAT task force that needs to infiltrate various locations around the fictional US state of Los Sueños; gather evidence; and apprehend or take out criminal targets. While the maps in the base game and its first expansion keep things firmly on dry land, its recently released Dark Waters DLC takes the action to three new marine locations – a luxury yacht, a deserted island hotel, and an oil rig.

Before each mission in the FPS game, you’ll need to put together a loadout of weapons, equipment, and gadgets suitable for the task at hand. Realistic gunplay and atmospheric audio add to the tension of heading into these locations, knowing that danger may lurk around every corner and that bystanders could be in the firing line.

It tackles some pretty dark and uncomfortable topics – something that developer Void Interactive says isn’t going anywhere, despite the game’s critics. But if you want a co-op experience that will test your nerves and communication skills, this’ll be right up your alley.

Right now, Ready or Not is 50% off on Steam, meaning you’ll pay $24.99 / £22.49. With an impressive overall Steam user rating of 89%, and an even better rating of 95% based on reviews from the last 30 days, it’s unlikely to let you down. You can grab it here if you so wish.

Alternatively, here are some other multiplayer games and co-op games that are worth your time.
