Vaseraga is already strong enough on his own, but if you give him the right weapon and equip him with the best Sigils, he’ll become a certified killing machine that will carry through even the hardest missions in Granblue Fantasy: Relink. He’s capable of rushing through Quick Quests to farm materials or clearing the toughest Proud quests with ease.
Which Weapon is Best for Vaseraga?
There are several scythe options for Vaseraga in Granblue Fantasy: Relink, but the best of the bunch is Soul Eater. This Scythe comes equipped with a Critical Hit Rate Trait and gains a Critical Hit DMG boost as you raise its level cap. If you use a Wrightstone to imbue it with additional Critical Hit Traits, Vaseraga’s damage numbers will skyrocket.
Of course, you’ll still want to level up each of Vaseraga’s weapons to unlock stat boosts in the Collection Mastery tree, so make sure you save up your resources for that. You may also find that another scythe’s Traits fit your playstyle better, so be sure to experiment as you level Vaseraga up.
Best Skills for Vaseraga
Vaseraga has seven skills to choose from, but these four are the best:
- Battalions of Fear
- Great Scythe Grynoth
- Umbral Eclipse
- Violent Shadows
This skill set gives Vaseraga a nice blend of damage and utility. Battalions of Fear and Great Scythe Grynoth can both be followed up with charged attacks so they’re easy to weave into your combos. Umbral Eclipse inflicts Slow on nearby enemies, giving you and your party a window to attack. When things get hairy, you can cast Violent Shadows to deal some decent AOE damage while also restoring Vaseraga’s health.
Best Vaseraga Sigils in Granblue Fantasy: Relink
You can build Vaseraga in multiple ways based on your Sigil choices, but there are a few Sigil types that pair better with Vaseraga than any others. First, you should equip Vaseraga’s character-specific Sigil “Ebony’s Poise,” which can be obtained from the Knickknack Shack later in the game. This significantly extends the time that the Grynoth gauge is active before depleting.
After that, your first priority should be equipping Vaseraga with Damage Cap Sigils. Since they’re so rare, it will take some time to amass enough for the best possible build and you’ll likely end up with a mix of level four and five Sigils. Ideally, you want the Damage Cap Trait to be level 50-60 so you can have a roughly 200% increased Damage Cap for Vaseraga.

Once you’ve raised your Damage Cap level as high as you want, you should focus on obtaining a mixture of Critical Hit Rate/DMG Sigils to pair with the Soul Eater scythe, Quick Charge Sigils to make Vaseraga’s charge attacks faster, and Charge Damage Sigils to maximize his damage output. Again, your combination is going to depend on the drops that you’re lucky enough to get from quests.
Basically, you want to increase your Damage Cap as high as you can and then fill in the rest of Vaseraga’s Sigil slots with Sigils that boost his Critical capabilities and buff his charged attacks since those are key to his playstyle.
Vaseraga Mastery Priority
While you’ll want to max out Vaseraga’s Mastery trees eventually, Mastery Points are a limited resource so it’s a good idea to focus your efforts in the right places. You should prioritize Vaseraga’s Offense Mastery tree, ignoring branches that grant upgrades for skills that you aren’t using. You should save that MSP to get further down the Mastery tree and obtain as many stat boosts as possible.
Don’t neglect Vaseraga’s Defense Mastery tree, though. While it’s not as important since Vaseraga’s skills can heal him and your allies can take some hits for you during co-op quests, you should still put points into it every now and then to ensure your survival in harder content. Ideally, you should keep Vaseraga’s Defense Mastery tree about 20-25% behind his Offense Mastery tree.
When it comes to Collection Mastery, you should unlock these upgrades as soon as their available. This tree doesn’t require a ton of MSP, but you’ll need to craft and level up weapons in order to unlock each node. You’ll get a significant boost to HP and attack from these upgrades, however, so make sure you’re investing in weapons that you aren’t using.
