You’ll quickly amass a decent amount of Residual and Fading Signals in Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ), but what should you buy with them? Let me explain how the currencies work and what their best uses are.

How to get Residual Signals and Fading Signals in Zenless Zone Zero

Residual and Fading Signals are among the many currencies in Zenless Zone Zero. You will earn both types of Signals by using the Signal Search. Both currencies are tied to the Gacha system, so they are pretty rare unless you spend real money.

If you want to spend your Signals, go to the Signal Shop tab in the store and scroll across to the appropriate page. You can also exchange Polychromes for Encrypted and Master Tapes here, although the conversion happens automatically when you use Signal Search.

What is the best way to spend Residual and Fading Signals in ZZZ?

If you’re like me and always hunting for your next pull, the Encrypted and Master Tapes are an attractive option. Keep in mind that there is a limited stock, which is replenished each month.

I’m unsure whether this will change, but the Tapes are 40% in the Fading Signal Store (pictured above). Early on, this is a great way to earn more characters. That said, Tapes aren’t the only thing you can spend your hard-earned Signals on.

If you have more restraint than me, the S-Grade W-Engines in the Residual Signal Shop are worth saving for. W-Engines boost your character’s stats, and the S-Grade variants offer more impactful bonuses than usual. If you enjoy using Billy or Lucy, you can buy their Mindscapes (upgrades) for 140 Residual Signals each.

Are there any bad deals in the Residual and Fading Signal Stores?

The Residual Store is full of decent items, although I would avoid the Master Tape trade initially. Master Tapes cost the same as Encrypted Master Tapes, which lets you use limited-time channels in the Signal Search, so buy Encrypted Master Tapes first.

If you’re patient, you’ll get everything you want from the Stable Channel without spending Residual Signals. I recommend buying all the Master Tapes and Encrypted Master Tapes every month. It’s a great free way to get more pulls.

As for the Fading Signal Store, the Tapes are arguably the best items, although the limit is problematic. All of the other items are for character or W-Engine upgrades, but these can be earned through in-game activities.

If you’re unsure how to earn items and currencies, you can open their Details page (Triangle on PlayStation, Y on Xbox). As you can see in the image above, there are several ways to obtain Advanced Physical Chips.

If you’re looking for the best-value items in the shop, the Inter-Knot Membership may be of interest. The membership is a great way to earn characters as a low-spender, although it does have limitations.
