You’ll encounter a variety of familiar enemies in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some of the more common ones are Keese, the bats that appeared throughout dungeons in The Legend of Zelda on the NES. In the new game, they play a larger role, sine you can fuse their parts with weapons, or use them to upgrade powerful armor. Unfortunately, some variations can be difficult to find. To help you with your search, here is our guide telling you where to find Electric Keese in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Tears of the Kingdom – where to find Electric Keese
When you run into an Electric Keese, you’ll know it. The powerful charge they emit shocks you and may cause you to drop any metal weapon you might be carrying. Near the start of the game, even a single bump from a crackling enemy can be fatal.
To find Electric Keese, you should typically search in the Gerudo Desert region or in the Depths. There are a few of the bats in the former area. However, you can also find them in limited other locations around the overworld and in caves that may also work for farming purposes.
Before you start hunting for the electrical bats, I suggest that you read up on how to get the rubber armor set. When you have a Great Fairy add two upgrades to it, the full set produces the Lightning Proof set bonus. You no longer need to fear electricity-based attacks. If you don’t equip the powered set, you may take a lot of damage even when striking the bats from what seems like a safe distance.
One surprisingly good place to farm Electric Keese enemies is on Cuho Mountain, south of Rito Village. It is the same area where you can find and farm Tabantha Wheat. A Wizzrobe enemy guards a hillside and attacks with electricity. It also summons electric-based enemies to fight by its side, including Electric Keese. Leave the Wizzrobe alive and just keep killing the bats as they appear. Make sure to use wooden weapons and gear, since the Wizzrobe produces a localized storm. Eventually, it will stop summoning allies.
In the Gerudo Desert region, find Electric Keese flying around at night. From a distance, they look like floating yellow orbs. Once you clear the Lightning Temple and eliminate the sandstorm, they become easier to find. Unfortunately, the Electric Keese is never common. If you plan to hunt them in the desert, fast travel to Soryotanog Shrine above Gerudo Town at night. Then head along the area leading northeast from the city to find a bat. If you’re stuck using metal weapons, use a bow and hit from a distance. A single arrow takes out a bat and reduces the risk that you take electrical damage. That’s important, since in the desert you sometimes have to wear armor to stay sufficiently warm or cool (depending on the area).
In the Depths, you may also find Electric Keese. Those underground areas are ideal for hunting them, since they give off a glow that makes them hard to miss as they circle enemy encampments. However, they are usually accompanied by other mobs that prove distracting. Make sure your armor is sufficiently upgraded, and bring healing items.
