Power Slugs are a fantastic source of Power Shards in Satisfactory, and none are better than the Purple Slug. These hard-to-find and easy-to-miss collectibles in the game are a real challenge but game-changing to any build.
How to find Purple Slug locations in Satisfactory
Like the other power slugs, you can begin to find the purple variants around the map once you have unlocked them on the Object Scanner. Once the Power Slug option is unlocked, simply set your object scanner to Power Slug and start following the machine. Slug Scanning is one of the first researched sections for the Object Scanner and will require one Blue Power Slug.
Although there are 257 Purple Power Slugs in Satisfactory, their locations are always tough to reach. Blue slugs are by far the easiest, yellow is a little more complicated, and purple requires a lot of work to get to. But if you’re going for the collection end-game route, you’ll need to grab them all.
Purple Power Slugs are almost always tucked away in a Satisfactory area that requires work to reach. I have managed to reach a number of them by using power lines and the zip line tool. Using the cables and towers, it was possible to build a route up or down to the Purple Power Slug location and make it back in one piece. A number of them will also require ramps and platforms to be built to reach them. Come prepared with a lot of materials and even more patience.
Some of the Purple Power Slugs will be guarded by vicious creatures rather than being in obnoxious locations in Satisfactory. In this case, bring a handful of nuts and a decent weapon with you. Each slug will take 3 seconds of holding E to collect, which is more than enough time to get killed.
Using the interactive map found here, you can pinpoint the location of each one. But knowing the location is only half the struggle.
Purple Slug use in Satisfactory
The Purple Power Slugs are the hardest to reach but the most useful of all. By researching the Purple Power Slug node in the M.A.M it is possible to break them down into a total of 5 Power Shards. These are then used to overclock machines.
Once you get your factory layout down in Satisfactory, start using the Alternate Recipes and a couple of power shards to overclock, and you’ll be maximizing production like nobody’s business.
