In Hades 2, enemies will soon begin to develop armor, and the game isn’t shy about handing it out. The armor is incredibly irritating as you delve deeper to get to Chronos.

Breaking enemy armor in Hades 2

You’ll know when an enemy has armor in Hades 2 as their health bar will be yellow. This doesn’t reduce the amount of damage you’re dealing, but it will act as a secondary health bar, essentially providing the enemies will double their health.

Whilst an enemy is benefitting from armor, however, you’ll find that they will not get stunned upon being hit. So you can keep striking them, but they’ll keep up their attacks and keep moving forward. Enemies with armor become especially dangerous when you can hardly stop their advance.

To break enemy armor, you simply have to keep smacking them until you reduce their yellow health bar to zero. Once you’ve done it, their health bar will show their regular health, and a little “break” will appear above it.

Once you’ve broken the armor, they’ll go back to being stunned by attacks, making them considerably easier to kill.

Best way to deal with enemy armor in Hades 2

Armor isn’t that bad when dealing with weak enemies, however, when you’ve got tougher foes that won’t stop their advance, they can become lethal. Any enemy can have armor, and the game does not hold back in some encounters.

When I face against strong enemies with armor, I tend to avoid them whilst I take out the others. The last thing you need is more projectiles and hits whilst trying to take on one enemy. To help with this, Cast the strong enemies to keep them at bay whilst dealing with the others.

Sometimes, however, this isn’t really feasible, as more enemies spawn in, potentially with armor. At times, it’s best to just focus on them. Cast is your best friend here, especially with the right Boons that’ll have it dealing damage. Hold the Cast button to make it a powerful attack, and watch as their armor depletes before your eyes.

With the armor broken, it’s easy work to finish them off. Whilst they’re trapped, make great use of your projectile attack, especially the magical version to deal as much damage as you can.

With your armor woes dealt with, you can finish them off just fine.

To really deal damage and progress in the game no matter the armored opponents, however, you’ll want some powerful Keepsakes.
