Starfield – how to get the monster costume
The Monster Costume is a rare piece of equipment you can only acquire while completing a particular side quest. It’s not especially useful, but it looks funny and that counts for a lot. To get the monster costume, acquire it from Dr. Giuliana Lakota in New Homestead and use it to scare some tourists.
Meet Dr. Giuliana Lakota
To reach New Homestead, set your course for Titan. It’s one of Saturn‘s moons in the Sol system, which is not far to the upper left from Alpha Centauri on your Starmap. Land on the moon to arrive at the settlement.

Once you arrive in New Homestead, make your way downstairs to the Museum area, with display cases and tourists. Look left from the base of the stairs near the entrance to spot a hallway leading to Facilities. Descend another short flight of stairs and look left from their base to spot the Clinic.
Talk to Giuliana. Agree to help her with her plan to receive Monster Costume. You can immediately equip it from New Items, since you’ve only just obtained it.
Tourists Go Home mission
As you receive the Monster Costume, you also activate the Tourists Go Home mission. The point here is to return upstairs and head back outside. When you arrive topside, let the mission beacon direct you to a group of a few tourists standing near some silos. As you get close, they start running. You can chase them a short distance and they will escape.
To finish the mission, you can optionally see Giuliana again. If you talk to her, you can let her know about your success. She will reward you with 50 XP and 3300 credits. Unfortunately, she takes the Monster Costume back. It is automatically removed from your inventory.
How to keep the Monster Costume
If you want to keep the Monster Costume, you have two options. The first option is to simply not report back to Giuliana. Otherwise, take the following steps:
- Rest for 24 local hours in Giuliana’s chair in the Clinic.
- Talk to her and borrow the costume again.
- Head back outside the settlement to find and scare more tourists.
- Return to Giuliana and report on your success.
- Receive 50 XP and 3300 credits.
- Repeat the process one more time.
If you don’t let enough time pass between conversations, Giuliana only wants to talk about how she acquired the costume, and how much she dislikes tourists. When you scare off that third batch of tourists, the mission is done and a Monster Costume is yours to keep.
