You finally found a way to enter Cazador’s Palace, and suddenly there’s a big locked door. It shimmers with arcane energy, and it leaves a sinister feeling. What do you do? Finding your way to fight Cazador for Astarion’s storyline isn’t a simple walk in the park. Baldur’s Gate 3: How to open Cazador’s Palace Sinister Door
You’re so close to getting face-to-face with the vampire lord who has terrorized Astarion for 200 years. Sadly, you can’t simply use Thieves’ Tools to get through this lock. How you can unlock the Sinister Door at Cazador’s Palace in Baldur’s Gate 3 is by using the Szarr Family Ring and Kozakuran Dictionary. I highly recommend you have Astarion with you during this mission. After all, it’s his questline.
How to find the Szarr Family Ring in Baldur’s Gate 3
Both these items will allow you to unlock this arcane door. This requires you to head into the basement of the Szarr Palace. Make your way down the stairs, and keep walking down the long corridor. At the end of the hall, you’ll see a door, but Astarion will notice an illusion beside it.
To your right, you’ll see a part of the wall that was hiding a door before. Now you can head inside the Kennel. If someone succeeds a Perception check, they’ll notice Godey, a skeleton who was trying to stay invisible.

A tense conversation begins, which will inevitably end in combat. You may be able to convince him to hand the ring over, but that requires beating some high DC skill checks. If you don’t perceive Godey, he’ll have the advantage during a surprise round of combat. After beating Godey, you can take the Szarr Family Ring from his body, alongside other goodies you may want to keep.
How to find the Kozakuran Dictionary in Baldur’s Gate 3
Although the ring has an inscription on it, you can’t understand or translate it. That’s why you need to find the Kozakuran Dictionary. Head to the door right beside the bottom of the stairwell to the basement. One of your characters may notice there’s some foul necrotic energy emanating from the room.

Unfortunately, you’ll need to get inside to find the dictionary. I recommend only taking one character with you, and to find the dictionary quickly, so you don’t get too hurt. In the Mahogany Wardrobe to the left of the bed, you’ll find the Kozakuran Dictionary.
Read and take the book with you, and you can now use both items to unlock the Sinister Door! All you have to do is go back to the Sinister Door and interact with it. The incantation works, and you can walk through the door to continue the quest.
